We are saddened to learn of the passing of Judge James Buckley, who died last month at the age of 100. In his honor, we hope you will enjoy revisiting this 2019 Article I video titled Do Members of Congress Have a Duty to Interpret the Constitution for Themselves? where Judge Buckley discussed how both Judges and Members of Congress swear an oath to protect and uphold the Constitution.
In his honor, we also note this podcast interview, Necessary & Proper Episode 36: A Conversation with James L. Buckley. Judge Buckley held forth on the modern legislative branch and reflected on a host of Article I and federal government reform proposals ranging from term limits to eliminating grants-in-aid to state and local governments.
Eugene B. Meyer, President and CEO at The Federalist Society, recently eulogized Judge Buckley and it can be read here.
